The fire symbolizes the courage and bravery that Katniss has. She demonstrated this bravery throughout the book by volunteering to be a tribute instead of her sister, fighting against the careers, and almost killing herself in an attempt to rebel against the capitol.

The bow and arrow represents her athleticism and strength. After the many times hunting with Gale, she develops a skill of using her bow and arrow. She also develops strength, which helps her to survive in the Hunger Games. Katniss's athleticism allows her to climb trees, sprint away from other tributes, and hunt food for survival. Her strength and athleticism are assets that play a big part in her winning the games with Peeta.

The Pin that Madge gives to Katniss before the games symbolizes her family and community that are backing her up in District 12. The pin helps her to remember her family, especially Prim, who are rooting for her to stay alive and come back home safely. This gives her determination to win the games in order to return to her family that needs her.
